ISO: ISO directions for making soft cookies

ISO directions for making SOFT cookies....my children both have braces and I want to make cookies for them that they can eat, when their mouth is so sore. (They brush afterwards!).
I use butter only, and I have insulated cookie sheets, as well as stainless steel(shiny) ones.
PLEASE HELP! Of over 250 cookbooks in my collection, I cannot find a recipe that works! Nor has adding flour, and lowering the baking temperature with a longer baking time has helped either . .. Thank you in advance, and my children
