ISO: KitchenAid Cakes

It seems that whenever I use my KitchenAid Stand Mixer to make a cake, it comes
out very dry. Could it be because I'm overmixing? Does anyone else have this problem? Since I'm not using recipes specific to the KitchenAid mixer, I have to take a guess at the speeds and mixing times to use. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for any help given. Mags
