ISO: Need help with daughter's 1st birthday!!

My daughter will soon be having her first birthday and I need some help badly! I need good ideas as to what to serve at this party. It will mainly be adults (only 4 children), all family. We live in Texas so the party will be inside and outside. I don't want to spend the whole party in the kitchen cooking. Does anybody have any good idea on some things I could make ahead of time. Also, any cute girly party theme ideas would be great. I recently went to a first birthday party where they had a 8 foot long submarine sandwich tied with little pink bows and I thought that was very cute but my husbands family is a meat and potatoe family. Please help?!?!?
