ISO: Penny Wafers (cookies)

Misc.
Years ago, my mother made tiny cookies she called "Penny Wafers." They called for currants, almond extract, sugar, and an egg, but I don't recall what else. The recipe made a big batch of thin cookies about the size of a 50-cent piece. Does anyone have a recipe for these yummy little goodies from my past? Many thanks!
