ISO: Re: ISO: Haystacks recipe

Misc.
Dear Allie, I too grew up in Tenn. & have just recently moved to Arkansas. I've been looking through my cookbooks that are from Tenn. to try and help you. I know what your thinking of and am determined to find it. Although I did run across this recipe called SANTA'S HAYSTACKS. It is not the one your thinking of but thought I'd share it anyway. 1 block (pkg) vanilla flavored Candi-Quik, 4 cups shredded coconut, 1 large jar red marachino cherries (chopped), 1 large jar green marachino cherries (chopped), 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional) Melt Candi-Quik according to package directions. Wash chopped cherries well in a strainer until water runs clear. Mix Candi-Quik, coconut, and cherries (nuts if desired) together in a large bowl. Drop by teaspoon in 1-inch balls onto wax paper. Makes about 2 dozen haystacks. I'll keep searching and get back to you.
