ISO: Red sauce with sweet and sour chicken

When I order sweet and sour chicken at the chinese resturants it comes with a delicious red sauce. It tastes like it could be a cherry sauce. Does anyone know what it is and if you know how to make it would be great.They just don't have it in the grocery stores at all. Thanks for any help you can give me.
