CHINESE RED SAUCE
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup rice vinegar
1 tsp garlic
1 tsp salt
2 Tbsp cornstarch
4 Tbsp water
1 Tbsp red food coloring
Boil 1 cup water then lower heat and add sugar, vinegar, garlic and salt.
Mix cornstarch, 4 tablespoons water and food coloring. Gradually add to hot mixture and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.
