ISO: Relish for Purple Hull Peas

Misc.
On a trip to Alabama I stopped in a local grocery store and I had a short conversation with a lady that was buying purple hull peas. I explained to her that I had never heard of them in Illinois. She said everyone in the South has purple hull peas and that they are great. As I drove through Mississippi I stopped at a roadside produce stand and the lady that ran the stand had all kinds of home canned relish for sale. My husband asked if you would use the relish on hot dogs and she gave him a big no. She said that this relish was made just to use on purple hull peas. I bought 3 pints and took frozen purple hull peas home. I cooked the peas with ham and put the relish on top. It is one of the best dishes I have ever had. They taste like Navy beans. I can find the canned peas at a local Amish store and I have stopped the last 3 years and bought the relish from the lady near Hernandez Mississippi. She will not give me the recipe and says it is a family secret. She did say it has green tomatoes, jalapenos in it. The relish is labeled Hayden Relish but I think Hayden is her name. If anyone has a recipe that sounds like this or a recipe that is used on purple hull peas please let me know because I won't be driving through the South to buy any from Ms. Hayden. Thanks
