ISO: spagetti sauce - canning

I want to can spagetti sauce, but have never done it before. I found several receipes for canning spagetti sauce, but several have the caution to not alter the proportions of onions, mushrooms or peppers. However, I want to do just that! I found a receipt for canning mixed vegetables that says you use the canning time for the ingredient that takes the most time. So that takes care of the mushrooms. But I have not found anything to help with the onions. I guess noone cans onions, but does anyone have idea how long you you have to increase the canning time when you increase the proportion of onions in the sauce?
