ISO: Strawberry shortcake sauce

Misc.
Okay, I'm not sure if my first message came through. I'm sort of new at this and I didn't see the button that says, "Post Message". Hi, everyone! I was wondering if there was a way of making the strawberry sauce a little bit thicker. The recipe I have says to mix the strawberries with a little bit of sugar but it is sort of runny and I was wondering if there was a way to make the sauce a touch thicker so it doesn't soak the cake too fast. Any suggestion or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time an dhelp.
