ISO: Wedding Cake Help!

Ladies I need your help! I'm getting married in August to the most wonderful man in the world! We are on a pretty tight budget for our fairly big wedding. Who knew weddings were so expensive and complicated! We are probably going to be needing a cake for 200 - 300 guests. Now, we know we can afford to get one make by a local cake maker, but it would only feed just over 150 people or so. We're thinking about having the wedding cake made for the 150 people and then possibly making the kitchen/sheet cakes ourselves to make up for the rest of the guests. I was wondering if you had any good home-made cake recipes for wedding cakes. We don't want to use a box cake, we want something just delicious! If you ladies could help a soon-to-be bride out, I would greatly appreciate it!
