BUCK COUNTY'S SPARERIBS
3 pounds spareribs
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 (1 lb.) can sauerkraut, drained
1 apple, cored and diced
1 tablespoon sugar
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Cut spareribs into serving-size pieces. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place on a rack in a baking pan. Brown in oven 15 minutes; turn and brown other side about 10 to 15 minutes. Pour off fat.
Spoon sauerkraut into bottom of slow cooker. Top with apple; sprinkle sugar over apple. Place ribs on top.
Cover and cook on Low 5 1/2 to 6 hours or until ribs are tender. Serve hot.
