I work in a liquor store in Ohio. Pure grain alcohol is sold under the name Everclear, which we cannot sell to the public. We can only sell to pharmacies. Most of the flavored liqueurs and brandies are 50 proof or less. The exception are some of the schnapps, which can be 100 proof.

Most of the expensive liqueurs like, Grand Marinier, Cointreau, Chambord, Frangelico, Kahlua are under 80 proof. The object is the purity of the flavoring.

I guess that I wanted to say that because pure grain alcohol can be a killer if not used properly and you could spike up the alcohol content with 100 proof vodka. I would also add some brandy for smoothness when I added the vodka. To this recipe I would add 1 cup of brandy of choice.

This is mostly for those who are new at making any of the flavored alcohols.
