Thank You: Thanks for the warm wishes, Gina!

Misc.
Ya know, I just love soup. But this week so far I have made pumpkin soup, black bean soup with turkey, and Italian wedding soup...I am going to put all the leftovers in the freezer, that's enuf soup for me for a while!

I am feeling a bit more rested today; last night I slept right through without having to wake for any cough medicine. So I will be even better by tomorrow, ojala!

I agree with you, a hot toddy is just the thing! The cough medicine I take has codeine in it, tho...don't want to wake up dead!

Today, after I dropped the kids at school, I went and picked up a few groceries, including double chai tea (Stash) and spiced licorice tea (Stash, herbal). I will have to hide the licorice tea, or at least some of it. My kids will make it disappear, they just love it! If you like licorice (black, you know, the "real" kind), I recommend this tea. Most herbal teas leave me wanting; this one is full of flavour. And the smell! Divine! I will have some this afternoon at work, after the second half of my lunch (about 3 pm). That sees me through 'til dinner.

I have lost 4 pounds so far, just be cutting out half the meat at dinner, and making sure the starch (be it rice, pasta, or whatever) is the recommended 1/2 cup portion. Veggies unlimited, so most of my plate is filled with them, or salad. Yes, I did feel hungry the first few days, but then I just "let" myself feel hungry. It's not like I am about to starve or anything. I eat a good breakfast, which the whole family shares, and lunch I split into two; half at 11 am, and the other half mid-afternoon. It's better for your blood sugar to spread meals out throughout the day, and I feel less panicky if I start to feel a bit hungry; I know the next meal is never too far away.

It's kind of interesting to think about what food really means to me. Obviously, I didn't "need" as much as I ate, because I wasn't burning it off.

Anyway, the weight is coming off, and I feel much better. I am not supposed to work out with the flu, so I can't go to the gym today, but I will do a bit of yoga before I eat my lunch and go to work...at least then I will be all stretched out.

It is snowing here today, not sticking on the ground, but fun to watch! I think the snow made for a lively morning commute in the city, tho!

Have a great day!

Carolyn!
