Thank you, Nancy, for your recipe. I will certainly try it. I believe my ex mother-in-law included butter (unsalted) and a small amount of flour. I don't recall any of the amounts. The cake was one round and was baked in a springform mold. She would sometimes sprinkle some powdered sugar on top after the baked cake had cooled.
