I really appreciate you two taking the time to help me out here. I'm originally from the U.S. (moved here 7 years ago), so I know what Crisco is. Unfortunately there isn't any shortening of any kind here. I can't even find LARD! Just liquid cooking oil. *sigh*

Kel, what you said about the butter melting while I try to pipe the frosting was a great tip. I'll definitely be sure to only use a little in the bag at any one time. I found last year that when trying to pipe a butter frosting, it all turned to goo and sort of sludged over the sides of the cupcakes I'd made for my twins' birthday party. Fortunately they thought it was cool! LOL But since the cake I'll be decorating for my daughter this this is a bit fancier, I don't think sludge will do ;-)

I'll be sure to let you know how this goes.
