Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I am back East and hoping really hard right now that the blizzard won't cause any disruptions to my plans tomorrow ....

You know, if I was to vote on your three choices, I would go for the Hayashi rice with ketchup (ick! from me, too!), assuming that your friend was going to a Japanese restaurant.

It's funny what gets passed around as "authentic" these days ....
