Asparagus

Misc.
I want to make creamy chicken and asparagus soup for Christmas Eve. I have the asparagus now (it was on sale) and I wanted to know if I freeze it "raw" and then cook it at the time I want to prepare my soup - or do I cook it now, and then freeze it after it is cooked?

Thanks in advance!

Jill
