Recipe(tried): Apple Bars for Eleanor

Desserts - Cookies, Brownies, Bars
This is not exactly what you are looking but is very similar and really good. It is from Better Homes and Gardens.

APPLE BARS

2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup butter or margarine
2 egg yolks, beaten
4 medium apples; peeled, cored & sliced
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
1 tsp cinnamon
powdered sugar (for topping)

Combine the first 4 ingredients; cut in the butter until crumbly (size of small peas). Stir in the egg yolks.

Divide dough into 3 parts. Press 2 parts in the bottom of a greased 13x9-inch pan.

Combine the apples, remaining sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Arrange over the bottom dough. Crumble remaining dough over apples.

Bake at 350 for 40 minutes. Cool slightly and then sprinkle top with powdered sugar. Serve warm or cold.
