baking books

Misc.

I have lots of cookbooks but likemost of you go back to favorites for certain things. I love the late Richard Sax's CLASSIC HOME DESSERTS - so many good and interesting recipes in there.

Maida Heater (am Ispelling her name correctly? I'm up here and the books are downstairs) -- She has, I just read, revised her dessert cook book (I've had theolder one out of thelibrary and its very good. I have her cookie one and one of the things I really like about all her recipes is the DETAILS she goes into . We probably don't need themfor brownies or chocolate chip cookies .... but for someof the things we have not made they are great! And I've discovered if I DO follow her directions -- it works!

Nick Malgieri has several -chocoalte,pastry and baking ... I have one and like it ...but I don't 'do' a lot that is in it - so I probably won't buy any more.

As mentioned above - a good BASIC book - Better Homes& Gardens,Good Housekeeping, etc.is very good. GH just came out with a new baking one -haven't seen it -just read about it in their magazine.

And then ... breads. Oh- there are so many and they're my latest love! We are 'into' more artisan breads and I don't dare buy any more. Thank goodness for a great public library!

Enjoy your new mixer and your baking....
