bamboo in australia

Misc.
I have a 3 stem lucky bamboo which i brought about a year ago. I just water it. It grew so tall it looked crazy.. about 3.5 feet of leaves so i cut the tops off and put them in water and they are green and look fine. They are just the leaves and stalk but don't look like the "bamboo like" part so i don't know what will happen... would love to know how to make more plants.. :)
