I guess it does mess up the fry daddy. But awhile back my fry daddy broke and i started using a pot on the stove, put oil in it. After you let it cool and then dump the oil into a glass conatiner and store in the fridge. Be careful with the oil on the stove. Stay right with it and turn yoyur pot handle in so you don't catch yourself on it
