curry leaves

hi susan,

i c. yes, the MASS PRODUCED commercially made curry powder doesn't ahve any leaves in it. but if you buy it from a smaller family factory made, you can still see them inside the packages.

when living in california, i can find them (fresh leaves) in asian grocers. i would think they should be available in hawaii??? that's really odd that you haven't been able to find some. they were usually placed in among some asian herbs and very difficult to tell from one kind to another from their appearance. you have to ask... however, these leaves have a distinct flavour so once you smell it, you will recongnize it by its smell the next time.

adding leaves into the powder makes a BIG different and the final reslut of a dish improves dramatically than using the plain curry powder. that's why many curry dishes add "curry leaves" in the recipes...

ps: will there be a quarantine problem if i post some curry powder with the dried leaves inside for you? let me know. :)
