Wow, I had learned a lot about Indian Dahl (Dals) while searching for Amanda's request. Hope this two recipes help!
Cabbage Dal Koshimbir

4 tb Chana Dal
1 Small cabbage washed & grated
2tb coconut grated
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp Asafoetida
3 green chilis chopped
7 curry leaves (Note- I thought curry was a mixture of spices-Gladys/PR)
1/4 tsp Tumeric powder
Coriander leaves choppes (as required)
1 tsp lime juice
1 1/2 Tb. oil
salt to taste
Clean, wash & soak Chana dal for 3 hours. Then, drain and grind coarsely. Mix the cabbage, chana dal & coconut well and keep aside. Heat oil & add the mustard seeds, followed by Asafoetida, green chlies, curry leaves and tumeric powder. Fry for a few seconds and then pour the same over the cabbage mixture. Add salt, lime juice, coriander leaves and mix well. Serve hot.

Cabbage 500 gms
Chanadal 100gms
Dry Red Chilli whole 4nos
Mustard seeds 1tsps
Turmeric Powder 1tsp
Garlic & Ginger paste 1tsp
Salt to taste
Oil 2tsps
Coriander powder.
Boil chanadal in 3 cups of water, stain and keep aside. Cut cabbage into small dices. Heat oil add mustard seeds, dry red chilli and then add ginger garlic paste cook for 2 mins. Add cabbage cook until soft. Add turmeric powder, salt & chanadal mix well. Then add coriander powder. Serve hot.
