Dear Fran: My mother was a diabetic

Misc.
and my father also. Since very young the blood sugar analysis always gave results over 100. I was informed by my doctor that I am what they call a controlled by diet diabetic. I crave for sweets everyday at every hour. My mother was quite a baker and I can admit that I am good at it, but I never ever bake cakes or prepare trifles or ice cream. I always pass them because If I eat a little bit I cannot control myself and like an alcoholic, I will continue eating whatever is the sweet. What do I do?

I eat a lot of fruits, specially pinneaples, mangos and grapes. I try to be moderate in the portions, and I do a lot of exercise. I prepare fruit salads with the above fruits and melons and I use artificial sweeteners and a bit of Quantr over them. I refrigerate them covered and If I crave I eat my fruits. I love bread, but I am fortunate because we eat here VIANDAS, those delicious root vegetables that are simple carbohydrates, recommended by doctors. I steam or boil the viandas and I serve them with a mojito prepared with a little bit of Balsamico, good olive oil, plenty of crushed garlic, chopped cilantrillo and salt and pepper to taste. Well, this is a life committment and I am glad that I am alive. I hope your dear husband will try to prove some of this ideas.

Thanks for your beautiful words. I feel honored with your recognition of my writings. I really wish that all of you will someday have the time to visit my small island.

Thanks, dear friend,

Gladys/PR
