Effect of sugar of corn

Steve, the grower of the produce market here told me in order to get a corn sweet and tender, such as the varieties you are speaking of, the cob also becomes very tender, making it mushy when frozen.I was interested to hear that from him. I just gave up and cut mine off the cob after blanching.
