for eggy
Misc. Sauerkraut is a pickled-cabbage kind of thing. I've never made it, and haven't eaten it since I was a child. It is tart and salty. Lots of people eat it with hot dogs, apparently. I believe it is German in origin, so maybe some time when you are trying a German main dish, pick up some bagged sauerkraut (skip the canned stuff) and give it a try. You can eat it hot or cold. I remember liking it - in small quantities - as a kid. But I would never have dreamed of putting it in chocolate cake!! What an imagination, to come up with such a combination!
