fresh yeast cakes

A number of years ago an aunt was visiting and she INSISTED on fresh yeast cakes .... none to be found in the part of NJ I was living in. In desperation I stopped at a small bakery where I often shopped - they sold me about a cup for I don't remember how much . luckily I had a small kitchen scale so we could weigh off the amount she needed .... and all was well!

I'm sure there are still some bakeries where you could get this -- you might want to check around if you don't have other sources. Also, a couple of years ago I saw some at a large health food store where I bought a lot of natural and organic foods. Again, I don't know if they still carry it as I don't live in the area.
