Gnats could be from house plants, too.

Misc.
RV/AR.....these could also be fungus gnats from your house plants. Oh, yes, they are a nuisance! I'm not sure whether Betsy will allow me to put this web address in this note, but if you go to www.icangarden.com and go to the forums, you can do a search for gnats, or post your question there. You can also do a search for fruit flies. I hope you'll post any results that WORK. Yes, they are attracted to the light. I leave my bathroom light on when we have a problem with gnats, as well as my stove cover light, and in the morning we've caught quite a few...which means so many less to fly right in front of our faces. They'll congregate in your light fixture. Then you simply wash it out and rehang it. :-) If you have a window open, they'll also fly through your screens, attracted to your lights. I don't envy you at all. Yuck! Try to stay sane.
