Gnats could be from house plants, too.

You can also do a search for fruit flies. I hope you'll post any results that WORK. Yes, they are attracted to the light. I leave my bathroom light on when we have a problem with gnats, as well as my stove cover light, and in the morning we've caught quite a few...which means so many less to fly right in front of our faces. They'll congregate in your light fixture. Then you simply wash it out and rehang it. :-) If you have a window open, they'll also fly through your screens, attracted to your lights. I don't envy you at all. Yuck! Try to stay sane.
