I have those too!
Misc.Hi June/MA,
I have hardy cactus in my rock garden, too. I borrow my husband's industrial strength leather and canvas work gloves for the job. Incidentally, if you ever get any of the tiny spines in your skin (the ones you can hardly see but sure can feel) put strips of Scotch tape over the area and pull it off. Really works. Mine are doing so well, I'm tempted to cut off a paddle and chop it up into a salsa (minus spines and skin, of course).
