I vote for A Godzilla Potato Pile-Up!

Misc.

Amy: Page posted this idea further down this message board but it is somewhat hidden among other good ideas.

Bake a bunch of baked potatoes. Page recommended baking them in a lasagna pan covered with foil so you do not have to wrap and unwrap each potatoe. I can see you piling these high on a large platter...even having Godzilla coming out of the center top. I'd garnish the pile with parsley as if trees or bushes were grown on the mountain. Make available for your guests a huge selection of baked potatoe toppings... ham, turkey ham, chicken, bacon bits, sour cream, non-dairy sour cream, shredded cheeses, chili, green onions, brocolli, etc. etc. etc. You could bake different sizes of potatoes for big and little appetites. Make enough small potatoes so guests who want to have two with completely different toppings can easily do so. You can always make baked potato salad or soup the next day. If you are having a large serving table, you could even do two mountains on the table instead of one. I am thinking 35 + potatoes is a bunch. This menu would accommodate all dietary needs. If you are anticipating some big meat eaters, you could put larger pieces of meat around the bottom of the platters for easy picking. Remember, too, you could use those nice heavy-duty "paper" bowls and plastic forks for this dinner. If you did the two smaller piles, you could make a happy birthday (son) banner and stretch it between the two mountains before dinner is served. Use bbq forks as posts, maybe.

Amy, please let us know what you do and how it works! Future party-givers will appreciate knowing too.
