Jackie, About that Movie.... (message updated)
Misc.Hi Jackie,
I heard that tidbit on HDTV where they had her design a new kitchen. I heard them say that she is such a natural on the camera that one of the famous producers just fell in love with her and she will have a small part in a movie, cooking of course!
I'll try to find out more, should have written it down!!
(Editor's note: The movie is Elizabethtown (click here) )
I will be making her Gooey Cake and Applesauce Bread sometime this week. It just seems that every recipe I make of hers comes out incredibly delicious! She sure can cook!!
I love the opening scenes and music of her cooking show...feels real Southern!!! If you have not been down to Savannah, make a point of going 'cause it is a real fun town. The video or DVD, Midnight In The Garden of Good and Evil, will give you a good feel for the town and it's genteel people. I came back from my last visit with a cement statue of the Birdgirl.
The original Birdgirl is in the city museum and replicas of her, with subtle changes, are sold at antique stores and garden shops around town. The subtle changes are either on her face or her dress, this is due to some copyright law or something. I never knew any of this until an antiques shop owner told me in Savannah.
After the book came out, (she is on the cover), there were a lot of tourists going to see her at Bonaventure Cemetery and they thought she would be stolen. She originally was guarding over someone's plot, unnoticed for years. Thus her relocation to the city museum. The book is great reading...
