No, you cannot sub 1,000 Island for Russian

At least not in this recipe, Kat!

I have made this many, many times over the years, it is delicious. The best dressing to use in it is Russian (Kraft makes this flavour, it should be at the grocery store, maybe only in the small size...), but in a pinch I have used Catalina, and it was ok, but not as good as Russian!

Don't sub anything creamy for the Russian, though...you need more of a vinaigrette base.
