Please share your classroom recipes!
Misc.Dear Gina,
I would love for you to share your classroom cooking ideas with me. I teach kindergarten right now, but have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and Reading Recovery (are you familiar with that program?) Reading Recovery is a program originally from New Zealand, and targets the lowest academically functioning 1st graders. You work 1 on 1 for 30 minutes with a student, and work solely on reading and writing following the Reading Recovery program. I loved it, and basically after the year-long training you come out as a reading specialist. I did that for several years, but missed having my own classroom. So now in kindergarten I use a lot of my Reading Recovery techniques and get those kinder kids either reading or ready to read by the time they leave kindergarten. It is so rewarding to see children who don't know one letter name when they enter kindergarten, but leave kindergarten reading and writing and loving it. I have a full-day kindergarten this year, and the kids are very needy. I would love to share some of your science/cooking ideas and tie them into our studies. Thanks for taking the time to share with me! I truly appreciate it! Hope you're enjoying your weekend. I'm just reveling in the time off! Take care,
Joansy
