re: 90th Birthday Party

Misc.
Carol ~ How wonderful. Congratulations to your mother on her 90th birthday. Your ideas about the posters and the guest letters sound very nice.

It overwhelms me to think of the changes your mom has seen in the World since she was born. Many food items we take for granted today were not in use when your mother was a child, or young lady.

One idea I have to offer is that you might want to check out the Food Timeline that is here on the internet.

You will see the dates that particular food items or recipes first appeared in the US. For example, Kellogg's Corn Flakes came on the market in 1906. Hershey's Kisses in 1907. Crisco 1911. Oreos 1912. Wonder Bread 1921. Kraft Macaroni and Cheese 1937. etc.

I was thinking you could pick some of your mother's favorite foods to have on hand at the party... maybe even as centerpeices. Make a cute little sign by each food showing the date and circumstances of its origin.

Or, if your guests like to play games, you might have the items on a table without the dates (at first) and have them guess what date the product first appeared.

Good luck with your party. Again, congratulations on your mother's 90th birthday.
