Recipe: Holiday Highland Dressing (Quaker Oats recipe, 1960's)

HOLIDAY HIGHLAND DRESSING

2 cups Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
4 cups dry bread cubes
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 medium onion, grated
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning (optional)
1/4 teaspoon sage (optional)
2 tablespoons water

Place oats and bread cubes in large bowl.

Combine remaining ingredients. Add to oats mixture; toss gently to mix.

Stuff lightly into body cavity and neck region of turkey. Roast according to standard roasting directions.

Makes enough dressing for 1 (10 to 12-lb.) turkey
