HI, NANCY!
I SAW YOUR QUESTION BEFORE, AND I'M SORRY YOU DON'T HAVE THE ANSWER YOU NEED YET. SHAME ON THOSE WHO KNOW AND WON'T TELL YOU.
I FEEL YOUR DESPERATION, SO HERE IS WHAT I HAVE FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS RECIPE (WHICH DOESN'T SEEM TO BE A WELL-KNOWN ONE).

THE RECIPE I FOUND USES FLOUR, MARGARINE, WATER, EGG YOLKS, AND VINEGAR THAT IS MIXED LIKE PIE DOUGH. IT IS THEN GIVEN AN OVERNIGHT REST PERIOD, AND ROLLED OUT THIN INTO 5 ROLLS. THE FILLING INSTRUCTIONS AREN'T VERY DETAILED. THE INGREDIENTS CONSIST OF A POUND OF GROUND NUTS, A JAR OF MARASCHINO CHERRIES THAT ARE CHOPPED, 1/2 CUP OF SUGAR MIXED WITH THE CHERRY JUICE, AND A BOX OF ANGEL FOOD CAKE MIX.
NOW, HERE IS THE PART WHERE I THINK YOU MIGHT BE HAVING TROUBLE. THE RECIPE DOESN'T SAY SPECIFICALLY, BUT IT LOOKS AS THOUGH THE CAKE MIX IS ADDED DRY; THAT IS, NOT MIXED INTO A BATTER. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT YOU HAVE THAT PART OF YOUR RECIPE WRONG? IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IF TOO MUCH WATER WOULD BE ADDED, IT WOULD PRODUCE TOO MUCH STEAM UPON HEATING THAT WOULD EVENTUALLY COLLAPSE ON COOLING.
THE BAKING INSTRUCTIONS SAY TO SPREAD THE FILLING ON THE ROLLED DOUGH, ROLL UP, AND BAKE AT 325 FOR 25 MINUTES.

THAT'S THE EXTENT OF MY KNOWLEDGE. IT SOUNDS LIKE A WONDERFUL RECIPE, AND I TRULY HOPE I'VE BEEN SOME HELP TO YOU.
