re: canning pears in jello
Misc.I have tried searching for a recipe to see what it was, but have been unsucessful. I have never heard of them done that way. I am not sure I would do it, considering the gelatin is an animal product. I have read that gelatin in homecanned foods can support bacterial growth. I don't have any information other than the jam and jelly recipes that contain jello are normally frozen or kept in the fridge and not processed for shelf storage.
I would suggest getting some flavored extracts and using them instead. If you want the bright color, then you could add some food coloring as well.
