Pizza Burgers were my high school's ONLY claim to fame as far as I was concerned. I tried for years to duplicate them. A few years ago I ran into one of the ladies who had cooked at my high school while I was there and we were talking about the Pizza Burgers. She said she'd never been able to really duplicate them at home, either. These were made on open face hamburger buns, with the sauce and meat mixed together (probably uncooked burger) and spread on the buns then chhese added and baked. The bun would end up fairly crispy and they really did taste good.
