re: Sorghum versus Molasses

Misc.
There is a difference between sorghum and molasses. Each are made from a cane plant. Sorghum from sorghum cane and molasses from sugar cane. If you want to know more about it , use your search engine and type in Sorghum Syrup..You may find some detailed discription.

The people in the neighbor hood grew their own cane and took it to a local mill and had it pressed and processed on shares..They did the same thing for their corn meal, growing their own corn and taking it to the "Grist Mill" to be ground..The mill was powered by a of pair mules or horses walking in a circle to turn the huge stone wheels... My what memories this has brought back. I wonder if there is any grist mills left in the old south. Many people bartered for things back then, money was in short supply in those days. Our friends traded a hind quarter of beef to have their sorghum and corn meal ground. .
