Sandra...have you tried looking in the archives?? more

Misc.

Hi Sandra,
Back in July sometime I posted my recipe for homemade ice cream. I can't remember when exactly, but you can do a "search"...my ice cream (which I made up myself after many years of trial and error is now a family favorite.
Its really easy, and is creamy, rich, and doesn't get "icy" after you put the leftovers in the freezer!
Here it is real quick, in case you can't find the original...I use a 4 qt freeezer..
Terri's homemade vanilla ice cream
4 cans evaporated milk
l small jar marshmallow creme
2-3 tsp. pure vanilla flavoring
1/2 pt heavy whipping cream
half and half to "fill" or whole milk to "fill"
l cup sugar
with electric mixer on low, blend evaporated milk, sugar, vanilla, and marshmallow creme (You MUST soften the marshmallow creme in the microwave for a few seconds to soften it so it will blend in with the other ingredients!) mix until marshmallows and sugar are dissolved.
pour this into freezer container - THEN...add the whipping creme (UNwhipped), and pour in enough milk or half 'n' half to the container's "fill" line.
Follow carefully the directions for your particular freezer, as adding too much salt, or not enough salt will affect your finished product. Do not get salt around the lid -- and after you lift the motor off when the ice cream is done, wipe it off before taking off the lid, to make sure no salt is around..
NOte. If you want to add cherries, you can add a small jar of maraschino cherries that you have chopped fine, and drained well on paper towels...
Good luck....
Terri
