Thought of another Happy Ending

Misc.

I love happy ending stories. Becky, I'm glad you were able to save Miracle and find a wonderful home for her.
I have thought of a couple of other happy ending stories that happened several years ago. My family home is on Maui which we rent. Once a year we go over to work and do repairs while our renter goes on vacation (a good deal for both of us) One year we were sitting on the front lanai and a VERY tired racing pigeon lands in the yard. It was so exhausted that we were able to pick it up and get the numbers off its leg. Walter Pigeon (soon shortened to Wally Bird) stayed around for about 5 days getting stronger every day, eating the birdseed and water we put out and sleeping on the roof at night. Finally one day it circled and swooped in every widening circles then made a bee line straight across the water to the big island (Hawaii). Of course we were curious if it ever made it home. So when we got back to Arizona one of our friends (we didn't have a computer then) was able to track the owner down on his computer with the numbers we had copied off its leg. We called them and sure enough Walitta Bird (turned out to be a she) did make it back. But two weeks after she left us and no one but Walitta Bird knows what happened in those two weeks. Needless to say she did not win her race

The next happy ending story happend a couple of years ago. At this time of year we have zillions of hummingbirds (go thru a gallon of nector a day) We noticed that one hummer had a round thing half way up her beak. My daughter and my husband were able to catch her with a fish net and they very carefully were able to remove the hardened bug from her beak. She had been able to drink the nector but probably would of slowly starved. When they released her she flew away with nary a thankyou.
