Weather is perfect for pumpkin cake, Gina!
Misc.Altho it doesn't feel too repetitive yet, we are definitely into the rainy season. We are trying to get it together (yardwise) for the winter. Pulling up and trimming the plants back, prepping the garden beds for next spring, pruning trees, and soon it will be the final lawn cut of the year! Perfect weather to have the oven on, so that lovely pumpkin cake is definitely on the horizon!
We have had the woodstove on every day, at least for a bit, but have not used the furnace yet. I tell my kids..."don't let the gas man win!!" Here, of course, the climate is much more moderate than in other parts of Canada. There is a lot of discussion on the news of what the government will do for poor, and working poor, families when the cold weather hits, to relieve the burden of the climbing fuel prices. Last time they distributed cheques for just such a reason, there was quite a cafuffle because some of the cheques were directed to people in prison! And, as you may surmise, they already have their fuel bills paid for (along with their meals, etc.) So, I am not sure how they will determine who gets what, this time around.
Gina, I picked up (reserved a copy at the library) of Maryjane's ideabook, cookbook, lifebook! Wow, isn't that unique? I have to take it back soon, but I will be copying some pages first, you can be sure! She, like Martha, sure has vision! I admire so much these independent thinkers, who go where no-one has had the vision to go before! Thank-you so much for the recommendation, it's a treat to sit down and leaf through this lovely book!
We, too, enjoy a good focaccia/ciabatta. So nice and crunchy, airy and light! But I wax nostalgic...I am low-to-no-carbing it lately, to try and get back my six-pack! If you see it, please send it home...it left home about 6 months ago, and has not been seen since!
Well, I am off to the gym in a few minutes. I get to have some toast before I go (pumpernickel) because I weight train, and the muscles need glucose. Yippee!
Have a fantastic trip, and I hope you see lots of beautiful fall sights along the way (changing leaves, dappled sunlight, etc.)
hugs,
Carolyn!
And saludos to your mami, I hope she enjoys kitty-sitting for you...I know I would!
