WHITE FRENCH DRESSING
Q.: I really like the ''White French'' dressing that some of the restaurants serve. Do you happen to have or could you possibly find the recipe?
- J.H., Silver Lake
A.: White French dressing is very popular in Akron-area restaurants. Here is a recipe that has been in the Beacon Journal's recipe archive for many years.
1 cup Hellman's mayonnaise
1/4 cup grated yellow onion
1 tsp. Dijon mustard
1 tbsp. plus 2 tsp. distilled white vinegar
1 tbsp. plus 1 tsp. sugar
Place mayonnaise in a bowl.
Grate the onion on the grater disk of a food processor or the large holes of a box grater, then mince finely by hand. Measure onion, packing down. Add to mayonnaise.
Add remaining ingredients and stir well. Cover and refrigerate overnight before using.
Makes about 1 cup
