This is from the world famous restaurant in Baltimore, which now is closed. I have made this recipe over and over - it is just great:
Haussner's Crab Imperial
Recipe By: Haussner's Restaurant through Loretta Reiley
Servings: 4
1 pound crabmeat (lump or backfin)
2 slices white bread, crust removed
2 each eggs -- beaten
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
salt and pepper -- to taste
Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon chopped parsley
paprika
cream sauce (recipe below)
Pick over crab meat to remove any shells. Cut bread into cubes. Combine eggs, mayonnaise, mustard, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Add bread and parsley. Mix well.
Fold in the crab meat carefully, to prevent breaking. Spoon into individual baking dishes. Top with the cream sauce. Sprinkle with paprika. Bake in preheated oven at 350 for 15 to 20 minutes.
CREAM SAUCE: Haussner's uses a basic white sauce, and adds a little salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and a dash of yellow food coloring. To make the WHITE SAUCE: Combine 2 tablespoons of butter, 2 tablespoons of flour, and 1 cup of milk in a saucepan, over medium heat. Add seasonings to taste, and cook until thickened, stirring constantly.
