Recipe: Apple Crumb Pie (using apple pie filling)

APPLE CRUMB PIE

FOR THE PASTRY:
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup Imperial margarine
2 tablespoons ice water
FOR THE FILLING AND TOPPING:
1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
1/3 cup Imperial margarine
1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

TO PREPARE THE PASTRY:
In medium bowl combine 1 1/4 cups flour and sugar; cut in 1/2 cup margarine with a pastry blender until consistency of coarse crumbs. Stir in water with fork until mixture forms a soft dough. Press dough into a 9-inch pie plate; shape edge on rim. Chill 30 minutes.

TO PREPARE THE FILLING AND TOPPING:
Spoon filling into pie shell.

In small bowl combine 2/3 cup flour and brown sugar. With fingers work in 1/3 cup margarine to form small clumps; mix in nuts. Sprinkle over pie filling.

Bake in a preheated 375 degree F oven 35 minutes or until lightly browned.

Serve with whipped cream, if desired.

Makes 1 (9-inch) pie, 6-8 servings
