Recipe: Bacalhau Com Nata (Portuguese recipe) for Lildov

Main Dishes - Fish, Shellfish
BACALHAU COM NATA
(Portuguese recipe)
Servings: 4

500 g salted cod fillets without skin
750 g potatoes, peeled and sliced
olive oil
2 onions, thinly sliced
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
Bechamel sauce - with milk and double cream

Soak the salted cod in a bowl in cold water. Leave it for 1 - 2 days, changing the water regularly, to soften the cod and reduce the salt content.

Cook the fish until it's easy to break it into small pieces. Cook the potatoes until tender, then drain.
Heat the olive oil in a frying pan, and fry the onions until soft.

Prepare the bechamel sauce, and add the finely chopped garlic cloves.

In a roasting tin layer the cod pieces, potato and onion slices. Pour over the bechamel sauce, and cook in the oven on a medium heat for approx. 20 minutes.
