ALOHA BARS
1 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 cups flour
1/8 tsp. salt
Pineapple preserves
1/2 cup Macadamia nuts, chopped
1/4 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup coconut
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Soften butter (room temperature); add sugar, salt and flour. Mix thoroughly; divide dough in half. Press into two 8 inch square pans.
Spread with pineapple preserves.
Combine remaining ingredients and sprinkle mixture over both pans.
Bake in a 375 degree F oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Let cool. Cut into squares. Keep in refrigerator until ready to eat.
CHOCOLATE RASPBERRY BARS
1 1/2 cups oats (uncooked)
1 1/4 cups flour
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2 cup nuts, chopped
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 (6 oz.) pkg. (1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 (12 oz.) jar seedless raspberry, strawberry or apricot preserves
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Combine oats, flour, sugar, butter, nuts and baking soda; mix until crumbly. Press 2 to 2 1/2 cups of mixture into bottom of ungreased 9x13 inch pan.
Bake 10 minutes.
Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate pieces evenly over partially baked base. Spread preserves over chips. Top with remaining crumb mixture.
Continue baking 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Chill 1 to 2 hours; cut into bars. Store securely wrapped in refrigerator.
JINGLE BELL BARS
1 stick (1/2 cup) margarine, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
1 cup chopped nuts
Chocolate chips
1 (10 oz.) jar strawberry or raspberry preserves
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Beat margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in egg. Add flour; mix well. Stir in nuts. Reserve 1 1/2 cups mixture. Press remaining mixture into bottom of greased 9x13 inch pan.
Spread with preserves to within 1/4-inch of outer edge of pan. Sprinkle with reserved margarine mixture.
Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Sprinkle with chocolate chips upon removal from oven. Cool; cut into bars.
Makes approximately 20 bars
FRUIT AND CHOCOLATE DREAMS
FOR THE BASE:
1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup margarine, softened
FOR THE FILLING:
1/2 cup jam or jelly (your flavor choice)
1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips
FOR THE TOPPING:
2/3 cup flour
6 tbsp. sugar
6 tbsp. margarine, softened
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Cut together ingredients for the base until like fine crumbs. Press into greased 9 inch square pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 20-25 minutes. Remove from oven.
Spread jam over base and sprinkle with chocolate chips.
Cut together the flour, sugar, and margarine for the topping until like fine crumbs, add nuts. Sprinkle over top.
Bake 15 to 20 minutes longer.
NOTE:
The sugar in both top and bottom crusts can be cut in half and it won't affect the flavor.
