Recipe: Ben &Jerry's Heath Bar Crunch
Desserts I use the coffee can method for all ice cream I make.
Ben & Jerry's Heath Bar Chunk
(Makes 1 qt.)
4 heath bars
2 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup 2% milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
Using a sharp knife, cut the heath bars into 1/2" chunks. Put into a bowl, cover, and freeze for at least an hour.
In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs 1-2 min, until light and fluffy. Whisk in sugar gradually over 1 min. Pour in cream, milk, and vanilla. Whisk to combine. Transfer to an ice cream maker and freeze according to directions.
About 2 min. before the ice cream is done (while it's still spoonable) mix in candy. Continue freezing ice cream.
My own pointer:
After taking any ice cream out of a ice cream maker, it is important to let it cure in a freezer before serving. Just scoop the ice cream out of the maker and pack tightly into a freezable container. Keep in the freezer for at least an hour.
Coffee Heath Bar Variation:
Add 3 tablespoons freeze-dried coffee in with the milk.
