Recipe(tried): Birthday Party Ideas for 13 yr old

Okay I have a 15 yr old so 13 was near past -- fortunatly for me that child has b-day near new years and her party always seems to be a new years no-sleep bash .... they dance the night away with a fog machine and pizza, pool, trampoline games etc. I let the girls clean and decorate as there are many in same age group in our neighborhood and that bash is a group effort -- don't the parents love me -- ugh!

But my eldest now 22 had her 13 yr old party at a nearby mall. It was summer and swim wear was out -- I let them lead me to all the stores they wanted and they tried on clothes and hats and scarves and all that jazz. We ate in the food court -- somthing we rarly ever did and just had an all around good time. I also gave the girls shopping pointers and made sure they knew that we don't leave fitting-rooms a mess (i'm in retail now so that is IMPORTANT!) I don't think I gave any money to spend (we were rather poor) it was a window shopping thing -- just for fun -- they learned that we don't have to spend to have fun, also toook off the pressure of spending they tried outrageous things for each other.
Recently at my own work at a local strip mall relailer (kohl's if I can say it) a streatch limo pulled up to let out a goup of about 10 pre-teens attending a party! wasn't THAT a hoot! the girls had fun in the Juniors department.

Today at 13 they are not as interested in the food part of a party as they are in the fun part!
The other ideas here are great too!
